Highest and Lowest Sellers at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2008

I posted a list of the 10 highest and lowest sellers from Barrett Jackson's Scottsdale auction last year so I figured I would do it again for 2008. There didn't seem to be quite as many standouts going across the auction block this year but there was still plenty of nice hardware on hand. Here's the list along with a video recap from the Speed Channel.

A sale worthy of note that didn't make the top 10 is Tony Stewart's 2007 NASCAR Monte Carlo which sold for $300,000 to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. You can view the entire list of cars at Barrett and SpeedTV has a nice collection of videos from this year's auction in Scottsdale.

Highest and Lowest Sellers at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale 2007

If you happened to turn on the Speed Channel at any time over the weekend, you likely caught some of the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auction. I always end up watching quite a bit of these auctions as they can be pretty addicting for car buffs. Last year I posted the Top 10 sellers from the Palm Beach auction so I figured I would post a list for the latest Scottsdale auction as well. A few of the prices below are skewed a bit due to the fact that some of vehicles on the block were charity bids. For example, the CNN Hummer was auctioned off to benefit the Fisher House Foundation.

As always, there were plenty of motorsports celebrities in attendance including Carroll Shelby whoes 1966 Twin Supercharged 427 Cobra "Super Snake" took top bid of the show at $5.5 million dollars. The lists below show the top 10 highest and lowest sellers for this event. Since there were several cars tied for tenth place, the lists include more than ten entries. If you surf around the Barrett Jackson website a bit, you'll likely find some nice hi-res desktop wallpapers of some of the cars that were on the block. For cropping or resizing, check out Irfanview, a great freeware image utility. There's also a bunch of videos over on YouTube from the 2007 Scottsdale auction. If you'd like to check them out, here's a link to a Barrett Jackson YouTube search sorted by "date added". The Palm Beach auction starts on March 28, 2007.

Top 10 Sellers at the Barret Jackson Palm Beach Auction

In between all the various races over the weekend I caught some of the Barret Jackson Auction taking place in Palm Beach. The auction is like crack for anyone with even a passing interest in collectible cars and I love the fact that the Speed Channel offers so much coverage. It sure beats the hell out of Pinks and Texas Hardtails reruns. The Palm Beach auction wasn't quite as good as Scottsdale but there was still plenty of eye candy. With a few exceptions, the cars also didn't seem to be bringing in astronomical bids like they did at the Scottsdale auction. Before I ramble on forever, here's the top 10 sellers from Palm Beach:

The entire list of results for the Palm Beach auction can be found at Barret Jackson's website. Now I'm off to kick myself once again for selling my '71 'Cuda years ago.

Audi R10 Looking Good at Sebring

Audi R10Audi's new diesel powered R10 prototype sportscar managed to top the speed chart in practice for the upcoming 54th Annual Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The American Le Mans website has a complete list of the results. Qualifying will take place this afternoon for the race on Saturday. SpeedTV will be broadcasting the race from 10:30AM to 1:00PM with continuing coverage between 7:30PM to 11:00PM. All times are EST.

Corvette Z06 Daytona 500 Pace Car Wallpaper

I've been meaning to post these for a couple weeks now. As they say, better late than never. If you happened to catch the Daytona 500 a few weeks ago, you probably noticed that the Z06 Corvette pace car was the hottest car on the track and with 10 yellow flags, we got to see plenty of it. I'm not crazy about the paint scheme but I certainly wouldn't kick it out of my garage. The images are rather large at 2000x1333. If you'd like to resize them for your own use, I recommend checking out IrfanView, a freeware image program for windows.
